Meetings and Costs

  • How often do we meet?

    How often do we meet?

We meet four times a year, on the third Friday of the month, in February, May, October and December. The meeting usually starts at about 3.45pm and afterwards, in the evening, we enjoy the ‘festive board’ at a nearby venue – a three-course meal with toasts, speeches and much conviviality.

  • Where do we meet?

We meet at Freemasons’ Hall on Great Queen Street in London. It is a joy to visit and spend time together in this magnificent, breathtaking, Art Deco building. Freemasons’ Hall is Grade II* Listed and opened in 1933, and is still the largest war memorial in the country. Salus Lodge has a special connection with it, being one of the Hall Stone lodges that contributed to its original funding, and the Worshipful Master wears a Hall Stone jewel in commemoration.

  • How much does it cost?

All members pay an annual subscription every October, which is currently £380. This covers all the costs of hiring the lodge room, fees due to United Grand Lodge of England, and the food and drink at the festive board. As you progress through Freemasonry you will also have some other costs (for example, regalia) but these are comparatively minor.

Charity is dear to every Mason’s heart, and you will be encouraged to donate what you can at each meeting. Each new Worshipful Master selects his preferred charity, and there are always other opportunities to donate.
